Standard Bank Royal Raid is back on 8 August 2020

Standard Bank Royal Raid returns in 2020 with a wonderful human adventure and sporty hikes

Standard Bank Mauritius is proud to renew its partnership with Racing Republic in 2020 and be the title sponsor of the Royal Raid again this year.

Held on 8 August 2020, the Standard Bank Royal Raid will consist of four separate and simultaneous races:

  • Royal Raid 70 - (RR70)
  • Royal Raid 40 - (RR40)
  • Royal Raid 15 - (RR15)
  • Royal Raid 8 - (RR8) - New option!

The Standard Bank Royal Raid will allow you to discover places that open their gates exclusively for you: Domaine de Yemen,  Chamarel (La Vieille Cheminée, Kamaya, Hermitage, Bon Courage) and Heritage Nature Reserves at Bel Ombre. The endemic flora of the Black River Gorges National Park including its famous ascent to the Parakeet Trail. Each participant will have to evaluate and make provision for his own refueling, even if the Organizing Committee is making provision for refueling at different check points.

Organised by Racing Republic, Royal Raid is the first trail run of Mauritius and started in 2006. The trail leads the participants in the heart of the south-west of the island namely:

Yemen and Heritage Nature Reserves
Le Vieille Cheminée, Kamaya, Hermitage and Bon Courage nature reserves at Chamarel
The endemic Fauna and Flora of the Black River National Park including its famous Parakeet Trail

Sport is an important element of the Bank’s sponsorship portfolio. Over the years, Standard Bank Group has been involved in sports activities such as the Ironman SA Triathlon, the Proteas SA national cricket team, Africa Cup of Nations – Football, Africa Cycle Fair, Tennis, Golf amongst others.

At Standard Bank Mauritius, the sport initiatives we have supported are Cycling, Mauritius Golf Open and the Indian Ocean Triathlon. Trail running events are becoming more and more popular and attracting many runners - amateurs as well as professionals both locally and overseas.

For Lakshman Bheenick, Chief Executive of Standard Bank Mauritius: “Royal Raid is a challenging trail run which shares all the qualities that Standard Bank stands for: hard work, dedication, endurance and the desire to succeed. This trail will eventually reward the runner with some of the luxuriant untouched landscape of Mauritius along with a really good feeling of accomplishment.”
