Helmut Engelbrecht is an experienced banker on the African continent. Currently he holds the title of Regional Chief Executive Africa Regions of the Standard Bank Group. Helmut held various key positions within Standard Bank Group in product teams (mostly Investment Banking). Since 2008, he has managed people across Sub-Saharan Africa in product as well as client orientated teams, including serving as Head of Client Coverage Africa Regions and Head of Investment Banking Africa Regions.

Appointed as Director of Standard Bank (Mauritius) Limited in January 2022 and is the Chairperson of the Board Related Party Transactions Committee.
