Darshan Roopun was appointed as Head: Governance in June 2026 and Company Secretary in September 2025. Darshan joined Standard Bank Mauritius in 2024 as Legal Advisor. 

His expertise spans corporate governance, banking, corporate and commercial law, regulatory compliance and data protection. Darshan previously served as Legal and Compliance Manager and Data Protection Officer within a real estate group of companies, and practised as a corporate and litigation lawyer in private chambers. His earlier career includes a legal analyst role within the global legal network of Accenture, advising on cross-border commercial and contractual matters for European operations and clients.

He has lectured part-time on corporate, commercial and employment law since 2013 at various universities in Mauritius. His continuing professional development centres on board governance practice, director development, and the responsible incorporation of artificial intelligence into corporate governance.
